Finding out the meaning of my name is a long intricate story, which you all know that I won't mind sharing, and I have no doubt that you too would enjoy hearing and possibly naming your children after me.
Having said that let's begin...
[NOTE, I am unable to use ascii characters, so if anyone knows how to make my proper e, with the line on it in Linux, let me know.]
At first the most I knew about my name is that it was French and the feminine form of the name Andre and when I went overseas, they said that Andrea is also the same name or meaning...
When those little gift frames came in with your names meaning on it, I got one from my aunt that said Chandre Jo-Anne, taken from the name Anne which means grace (so basically at that stage, the Name Chandre was no where on the list, and the next best thing they could get was the Anne). So that was as much I knew... GRACE... (which by the way means underserved favour)
Along came the internet, and somehow I found (can't seem to find it now) the meaning of my name - Andre meant Manly, Chandre was the female form, WOMANLY (or like I always say - "when you think of a WOMAN, you think CHANDRE") or FEMININE GRACE. There's that word again, GRACE...
Today I decided to check on the net, what Jo-Anne means, and I saw that Jo-Anne is of Hebrew origin, meaning GOD IS GRACIOUS.
So ja, I am pretty pleased with my name, when you get to the heart of my name it means Grace:
Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.
That this grace is a gift of God - God is gracious to me, and out of that grace, the feminine grace I have flows... ;)
(If anyone begs to differ you're welcome to come and challenge me!)
